Memorial Day in Madison

We spent Memorial Day in Madison at my brother's house.  We played in their pool and enjoyed the kids entertaining one another.

It was a great time to just be out of town and kick off the summer.

Jerilou

This my friends is Dr. Jerilou Moore, my mentor and my friend.   She is just about everything I want to be professionally and I love her dearly.  She was my teacher and for the last few years she has helped me go through the motions of my doctoral work.  It will soon end, but after my final class I had to complete a two week intersession where I taught graduate students how to embed art in the STEM subjects and how to create STEAM lessons.  Forget the research just know that this lady is one of a kind.

Mickey's Retirement

Our faithful minister of music for the past 22 years retired.  He announced it in late January and as time crept forward it was as if it weren't real.  But at the end of May he was done.  I can't remember a Christmas without him or a patriotic service he hasn't led.  It will be new and uncharted as we begin our search.  There are some mighty big shoes to fill.
I love this lady and she and her crew are about as faithful as you can be.  She has been titled my 'new best friend' for the last decade and we love a chance to get our picture taken together.  She is adorable and she emits love from her very pores.  Betty Miller is a one of a kind and we couldn't wait to get in the photo booth at the reception to smile with one another.

Jett Boy and the Zoo

Cullen went camping and we were looking for something to do with Jett while he was away.
His favorite exhibit was the Panda exhibit.  He loved it.  He came home with a stuffed Panda.
He also loved learning to stand like a flamingo.

Oh The Places She'll Go

Merilese, my younger cousin, graduated from high school.  Her mom loves a party as much as I do and she decided to theme it with a traveling theme.  It was adorable with maps and globes all around. I had to attend the LHS graduation and was able to help set up and attend Merilese's after graduation party.

It was way past Jett's bed time, but summer is for staying up later and so he came to help eat the "dusty chips" or what we could call Fritos.  He is super silly these day.

Can't wait to see what great things she will accomplish.

Magnolia Meltdown

In keeping with my New Year's Resolution I completed my May Half Marathon in Ridgeland.  It was a beautiful course that was fairly shaded and the weather was wonderful.
I was not prepared at all for this race.  I had no training and it showed in my time, but I finished and with each race I am learning that is an accomplishment in itself.  One competitor actually didn't finish this race I found out in the following week.  A 42 year old runner collapsed on the course and didn't make it.  So I am thankful I can finish when I do, because one day I won't be able to run and I will enjoy it while I can.  This was my 8th month in a row to run a half.

Mother's Day

I was able to spend great time with my mom.  Cullen and Jett treated me like a princess and the day was perfect.

Jett and Emi Reese do an okay job sitting in big church. They love love love each other.

Jett insisted on the way home from lunch he have his picture taken.  He is such a little boy with a great big personality.

Thankful the Lord let me be this sweet boy's mom.
