The Tale of Two Only Children

Jett and Mary Leighton were able to play together one evening. Mary Leighton showed Jett her new table and chair and he was impressed by the shiny image of Minnie Mouse.
So impressed he decided he needed to see it better.  Mary Leighton really wanted Jett to have a look, don't touch attitude.  Jett didn't play along.
In the end we had to hide the table, because our very own Hector the Collector, moved it all over the patio, into the house, and around the yard.  Lord, bless these two only children. I hope they learn to share more in the years to come.

Dabsy and Jett Boy

This little girl is Dabs.  This is Jett's girlfriend.  They stay at the same sitter and on this day I picked Jett up at the sitter's prompting took him to get him seen about.  As we walked out we found Dabs waiting to get checked out.  It seems they had shared too many kisses and had given one another a summer cold.

The Write Way

I got a call a couple of weeks ago from the School of Education.  March 1st I turned in all the items I needed to apply to the doctoral program.  I waited, waited, waited, and waited some more.  I asked around but never gained an answer as to when they would hold interviews.  My call was to ask if I could come in the next day.  It was state wide testing week.  I needed to prep.  I didn't prep, I didn't have time.  I went in and winged it.  I was then asked if I wanted to do my writing sample, even though I hadn't been given the study guide or the rubric.  I declined and said I would come in the following week.
In true Felicia form, I waited until the day before to look at the rubric.  My mom came over to give me her English teaching advice on my writing.  After a 30 minute lesson....I was good to go.  My mom left me with this face...
This meant I better get settled and get it together.  Fingers crossed it works out for me.

Mother's Day

This was my mom and me and my Hugsalot Doll.  I was about two in this picture which would have put my mom about 35.  Fast forward almost 30 years and here we are.

This was my second Mother's day with this cutie.  It was a great day.  I started the day walking on the Tanglefoot Trail with Jett and my mom.  After about 3 miles we called it a morning and enjoyed coffee.  Next we enjoyed our church service and then salads at the house.  I was able to get in a three hour nap and we finished the night off at church watching the kids sing for the end of the choir year.
This day was also special, because we got to see Jones get dedicated.  We love our cousins.

GumTree 2014

I did it!  I finished the GumTree 10k.  I tried to enlist Cullen's dad to run it, but he was injured.  I tried to enlist Cullen, but his back randomly started hurting.  So I finished I ran/walked it by myself.
Cullen's mom and dad volunteered to watch Jett and they had a big time in Fairpark, while I was making my way through tornado ravaged Tupelo.  My goal was to have a sub 12 minute mile.  I wound up running sub 11 minute mile, so I was pleased.
What I know after my first 10k.  It was long in comparison to the 5ks I am used to.  I am super glad I did it, I can't wait until next year.  Maybe I can get a partner to finish it with me.

Jett and Lily James- Reunited

For the first time since Spring Break or maybe before we were able to get these two babies together.
We walked like old times.
 They slept like old times.
And then they sat and stared at the two crazy mamas trying to make them smile....just like old times.

Clean Eating as of Late

Yes, I am still eating clean.  I had a fellow blogging friend who asked me to post my weekly goals so she could keep up.  I really haven't had the time to sit down and make goals.  I have kept a mental checklist.
Life is busy at 12 West Washington and the Pollards are worn out, blogging is one of the first items I let go once I get stressed.
So here is an update and a few upcoming goals.
With the exception on one day, I have walked every day since March 17th.  I enjoy being outside, being active, and both the family time it provides or the alone time it provides.
I have yet to drink a carbonated beverage since quitting them and I don't miss them.  I have put a huge carbon foot print on the earth with insane amount of bottled water I have been through, but no sodas.
I had a cheat day on Easter.  I didn't get crazy and I still tracked every thing I ate, but I did indulge.  I didn't beat myself up about it.
Last week I found out that both my principal and assistant principal would be leaving the school we work at together.  I found myself starving to death through out the day.  I couldn't get full.  I realized after it passed, I am a known stress eater.  Thank the Lord for my new lifestyle or I would have weighed 400 pounds by June.
It really is a daily struggle.  I think about it probably more than I should, but I feel really good.  I am sleeping really well, I have more energy, and I am loving the results for sure.
I have learned to enjoy foods I have never enjoyed before.  Some new foods I have branched out to enjoy: spaghetti squash, grilled asparagus,  and quinoa.
I have learned that life exists without fast food, caffeine, and processed foods.

How we Roll

Jett has been a trooper with my new found running/walking hobby.  Bless his heart he just is glad to be outside. While walking Sunday afternoon I looked down to see him laid back, feet up, and sprawled over the drink tray of his stroller.

Jett Boy goes to Big Church

Jett loves music.  He loves church music.  I really like to let him watch our church on tv, and he sings along.  So I thought Sunday night's Children's Choir night would be fun for him to go to.
Before it started I busted out a cookie pop to keep him quiet.  Thankfully we sat with my sweet friend Jenna and in front of Jett's new best friend Mr. Randy Young.
He didn't cry out, I didn't give him a chance.  I made sure to keep his bag filled with treats and books and crayons.  He watched the kids for a total of 15 minutes.  The rest of the time I spent entertaining him or keeping him from making too much noise while playing with Mr. Randy.

Emi Reese is One

This sweet heart turned one last week.  Her mom put together the best sweet treat themed party.  It was adorable.  She thought of all the cutest details.  There was a house full of babies and big kids.

Jett wanted to play outside with the big kids, but was just too small.  So he made do with the little girl toys and the slide.
Jones is the next baby to turn one and we can't wait for his monster party.
