Crausby Carter Delivery

We went to the hospital on Thursday morning and were there by 5:30 to get things started.  They got my IV put in and started fluid and pitocin by 7.  Dr. Young came by about 8:30 and broke my water.
My contractions started to become intense and by 10:30 I told Cullen to get my name on the list for the epidural.  To keep my mind off things he was like...ok I'll just talk to you.  So mid contraction he asked how my dissertation was coming along.  I could have killed him.  Instead we started playing Heads Up the Ellen game show on our phones.  Mom came over and sat nervously to the side.  And Megan made it just before lunch time.  She left to meet her mom for lunch and the nurse came in just about 12:30 to check me and said, wow your are ready.  I had a freak out.  The nurse walked out of the room and I started crying.  Cullen was in shock, like what is wrong? I just was overwhelmed.  I thought it was going to be closer to 4 when I had the baby so with it being earlier, I didn't have my mind right.  Meagan made it back in time for me to start pushing.  Cullen's parents and my aunt and uncle rotated in and out to visit before it got to time to labor.  It felt like it took forever.  In actuality he was with us by 2:24.  He was born face up, with more hair than brother had.
This was a much easier labor.  Meagan had asked to stay in the room when I got my epidural since she had put a central line in the day before.  Little did I know the nurse anesthetist was going to talk her through the process and then again the second attempt.  I would have loved the staidol like I had before having my epidural with Jett.  I don't remember much of the actual placement, this time I was fully aware.
They gave us what felt like an eternity of baby bonding time before friends and family could come in.

The day before Crausby

Jett and I left school and went for ice cream the day before we met his brother.  We walked the square and it was great weather so we sat out and ate our ice cream.  I answered questions about his schedule in the days to come.  While it was ice cream just for him it was my moments of just soaking him in.  I know when I come home with the baby he will age over night.

Valentine's

Okay so our church had a Valentine's banquet and I wanted to have one last date with Cullen, so we went.  Nothing like a photo booth pic at 38 Weeks Pregnant.

Jett wanted to write his own cards this year.  It took FOREVER
And in a last bout of nesting....I accidentally baked 10 dozen cookies to be shared with everyone.  And with ten dozen you like have to share them with EVERYONE.

Countdown to Crausby

Counting Down the days to Crausby coming to join us, means us doing whatever Jett Boy wants to do.  And so we have eaten at YaYa's more than I care to admit.  We have been to several arcades, and finally we went to Chucky Cheese.

Showered with Love

Our Sunday school class showered us with diapers and wipes.  My Upper Elementary also had a diaper shower for the baby that was more than generous and touching.  Crausby will be ready when he finally arrives.

MECA

Ms. Wilson and I went to MECA the state educational technology conference.  We were able to meet Kim Beardon from the Ron Clark Academy.  While going this late in my pregnancy wasn't the best idea I made it.  We were treated to some wonderful dinners by vendors.  Ms. Wilson and I both were struck with a little sickness but we made it home without major incident after the early morning stomach issues.

Regional Reading Fair

It was supposed to be an experience when I entered him into the reading fair with his classmates.  Well they won at the district level.  And so they went on to compete at the regional level.  It was on the worst possible day.  I had the district job fair.  Cullen and one of the other mom's had a soccer tournament so my mom stepped in and handled the wait with Jett.  I was there just in time for the awards.  It was a LONG wait for little ones.  They did not move on, but they were there and they competed.

Cullen's soccer team showered us with the sweetest gifts and snacks. He is so lucky to have such a great group to work with.

He is 5

He didn't have a party this year.  We were busy with a baby brother and all the things that go along with getting ready.  We did set aside some time to celebrate the big boy though.

We met Cullen's parents at Old Taylor for dinner with the birthday boy.
At school with his class we had cupcakes and he had a Happy Meal.

And to finish out the day we let him pick his place and he chose dinner at Chic-fil-A with his Sadie.
He is such a big kid, but I still see some baby in him.  He loves to snuggle still loves a train.  He will always travel with a toy.  He isn't a fan of screen time.  He enjoys going to church and when he doesn't he goes any way.  He spends his nights playing in the floor with all his toys.  He enjoys collecting rocks, riding his scooter, and playing.  If he could play all day he would.  He makes me so thankful.  Jett Boy Pollard you make this life worth living.
