So mark it off the bucket list, Mom and I went to NYC together. We've both been before but never together. We flew in on Friday and got to our hotel just after 12:30. We found Justin, the groom, and my great uncle, Lamar, in the hotel lobby when we arrived. We were escorted to the wedding suite and sat down to visit for a few minutes. I had made reservations at Sardis for two which we quickly changed to three and set out to make our appointment. After our late lunch we parted ways with Uncle Lamar.
Mom and I trekked back to the Carlyle by way or Times Square and then caught a cab to make sure I had plenty of time to get ready for the rehearsal dinner.
The dinner was at The Smith. It was the best dinner party I've been to in a while. It was the perfect mix of friends and family, dinner and laughter.
All of us tired from our long travel day a group of us headed back early to get some rest.
Mom and I hit the streets early the next morning to take in the sights.
We dined at Tavern on the Green and wound our way back through Central Park. Just before four we met with the wedding party friends and made pictures in Central Park. It was super cold and we headed back to the hotel to thaw before the wedding.
After the ceremony, Justin, whisked us away to the roof to experience the city from great heights.
This was the bucket we had to stand on to climb from the window to the ledge. It was beautiful.
We loved Tavern so much we made reservations to eat there again before we left.
The most touristy thing we did was make our way to the top of the Empire State Building. It was a long wait and a lot of lines, but the view was worth it.
From here we ate at a little diner on the Upper East Side and then headed to the airport. In route to the airport I got the message my flight was delayed but it gave us time to rest and relax. It was a fabulous trip with more pictures to come.
